The Hilton Hawaiian Village resort is a great family-friendly holiday venue - there are lots of pools and direct beach access which is perfect for a late afternoon/sunset swim, plenty of places to eat onsight (though probably a tad overpriced) and its location makes it an easy walk to both the main strip in Waikiki and Ala Moana shops. The downside would be the age/state of the suites in the Diamond Head Tower. Upon entering the room immediately seemed old and uncared for. The lighting was poor (everything was lamp-lit - there are no overhead lights), the door positioning in the hallway and bathroom were impractical as they\'d block each other, the cleanliness was questionable as we always had ants turn up in the bathroom, the a/c was constantly malfunctioning and still noisy even after being turned off, and the sofa bed (which we set up for my 5yo) was weak and creaky. We felt housekeeping did as good a job as possible to maintain the pleasantness of the room, but to given the age of the facilities, I wouldn\'t recommend anyone pay what we did to stay in this venue. The brilliant view of the beach from our balcony, the king-sized bed in the main room, resort facilities and closeness to the beach were the redeeming factors during our stay.
